Pat Archibald
11th and 12th June 2011
10am -4pm
£75 + Kit
We are delighted to welcome Pat Archibald back to The Silver Thimble, Pat has considerable experience both as a Textile artist and as a Teacher.
The workshop offered here at the Silver Thimble has an Indian theme, inspired by her travels in Rajsthan Pat has designed three panels In Rajasthan animal symbolism is used to represent good luck, love and power. The corner triangles are block printed by hand and the kits include foils and exotic sequins. They are approximately 14" square when finished. Pat will bring the stamps she collected whilst with a printing 'ghuru' in India and you can play with making your own backgrounds, (Don't worry she will also have some prepared ones in the kits!) but it will be fun to have chance to play and experiment. You should complete at least one panel in the workshop.
Ghost Images of the Orient
Saturday and Sunday 27th/28th November 2010
10am to 4pm
£75
We held this workshop in the summer and it was so popular we couldn't accommodate everyone so Pat has kindly agreed to take the workshop again. In the two day workshop you will create one of the designs pictured here. You will learn to create a background with a curved seam using Lynne Edward's Wavy Border Ruler and then learn in easy stages how to create translucent images using layers of sheers and nets. Pat also discusses how to do more complicated 'ghosts'.

About Pat:
In her own words –
“Quiltmaking and teaching are passions of mine. My love of fabric started at an early age and having been co-owner of the shop, 'Purely Patchwork' in Scotland for ten years I have been able to share my love for fabrics and quilting with quiltmakers from all over the world.
My travels are a constant source of inspiration to me and probably my best known works to date relate to my Kilimanjaro climb. However, recent work has been about locations closer to home - the Highlands and Islands of Scotland - but adventures in Australia and New Zealand in 2003 are proving to be very inspirational!”
